It has moved me enough to want to share with you a couple of sentences from my favourite book, “The Journals of Edwin Carp”;
“Once again I noticed that, when I kissed Maude good night, our pince-nez met and made a slight tinkling sound. I find it embarrassing. I wonder if Maude does too?”
And the ultimate line (It's revelation is not spoiling the book for a future reader – “Carp” is unspoilable!);
“If, by some good fortune, Maude and I are left alone in the compartment, I shall kiss her the moment we are under way.”
